About this design
Contemporary starts from a neutral base of warm grey walls and a mid-grey sofa, then adds one or two confident accents: mustard and teal cushions, a teal Eames chair, and a Flos Arco lamp arching over the coffee table. The big move is the black slatted partition, built from 40×40 mm slats at a 100 mm pitch and running from floor to ceiling at about 2.47 m. It divides the long room into a work zone by the window and a lounge behind it without blocking the light. The IKEA LAGKAPTEN/ADILS desk sits on the window side of the screen, while the IKEA ÄPPLARYD sofa faces a wall-hung BESTÅ console and a graphite TV panel in a black frame with LED lighting. Curtains and a track light add softness and flexibility, and a geometric rug in beige and charcoal ties the seating area together. Wood, black metal, glass and fabric all appear in measured amounts, which is exactly the point: mix materials but keep the palette tight. It is a good fit if you want a room that looks designed yet will not date quickly.

What does the slatted partition do?
It separates the desk zone by the window from the lounge without a solid wall, so daylight still reaches the sofa area. The slats are 40×40 mm black profiles on a 100 mm pitch. It is made to order.
Which lamp is the arc lamp?
It is the Flos Arco by Achille Castiglioni, 240 cm tall with a marble base and a reach of about 200 cm. It arches over the coffee table. If the budget is tight, a similar arc lamp can replace it.
Does this layout fit a narrow room?
Yes. Scheme C is built around this: the partition turns one long 3.42 × 5.21 m room into two zones, so neither the desk nor the sofa area feels like a corridor.
