Neoclassic
About this design
Neoclassic is the polished, symmetrical take on the room. The walls are warm cream with white panel mouldings, a chandelier hangs from the ceiling, and brass details, such as the handles on the panelled wardrobe and the oval brass-and-marble coffee table, pick up the light. The IKEA ESSEBODA sofa in cream, with pale blue and sand cushions, stands on birch legs against the left wall and faces a cream TV unit with moulded panels. Under the window a white HEMNES bureau with two drawers and an INGOLF chair make a desk that looks more like a dressing table than a workstation. The whole palette of cream, ivory, dusty blue and brass stays soft, and the rug is a plain, pale tone. The furniture is mostly mass-market, but the mouldings and the chandelier do the heavy lifting, so the room reads as elegant without the weight of true period pieces. Pick this style if you like classic proportions and a refined mood but want to avoid heavy ornament.
Layouts
Layout scheme A
Scheme A: sofa on the left wall, TV on the right wall, desk by the window, floor-to-ceiling wardrobe on the end wall. In Neoclassic the sofa and the TV unit face each other symmetrically, the oval coffee table sits in the centre, and the bureau under the window leaves the middle of the room open.
Each style uses one of four proven layouts. The plans are schematic; the window is at the top, the entrance door on the right, the wardrobe at the bottom.

Best for
People who love classic elegance and symmetry and want a refined living room without antiques. It suits a family room where a lighter cream palette is easier to live with than dark colours.
Tips
Let the mouldings carry the room: paint them one shade lighter than the wall. Keep brass limited to handles, the coffee table and a few small objects. Hang the chandelier on a dimmer and check the ceiling height first. Pale sofas show stains, so look for removable washable covers or performance fabric.
FAQ
Questions about the Neoclassic design
Which furniture is in the Neoclassic design?
An IKEA ESSEBODA sofa, an IKEA HEMNES bureau, an IKEA INGOLF chair and a Francesca oval brass-and-marble coffee table. The panelled wardrobe with brass handles is made to order.
Do I need real plaster mouldings?
No. The 3D scene shows panel mouldings, but in practice you can use ready-made polyurethane or MDF mouldings, which are lighter and cheaper than plaster.
Is Neoclassic too formal for everyday use?
Not in this version. The sofa and rug are soft and pale, the bureau doubles as a desk, and the only truly formal elements are the chandelier and the mouldings.
